We’ve heard about Crested Butte (Crusty Butt!) for years, but this is our first time making it here. At 8,900 ft elevation, it wasn’t a huge shock to us when it started snowing on us – at the end of May!
Amazing scenery, wildlife, and old mining ruins abound for your viewing pleasure, and this is one spot that’s definitely on our return list for 2019.
Marmot Xing
I can appreciate the spirit behind the sign, but honestly there are about 800 million extra mamots around here. If they run out in front of the Jeep, well – they were the dumb ones anyway and that’s just thinning of the herd.
Raging Waters
I’m guessing that this guy is familiar with the crossing here on the Slate River and knows that he can make it with no problem. There’s no way I’d take the Jeep across this without watching somebody in front of me.
