One of the beauties of skipping miles and miles of concrete superslab is seeing oddball bits of Americana that you’d never even know existed.

One of these is Carhenge – a nerd’s automotive version of Stonehenge in England.

Jim Reinders spent time working in England, and decided upon his return to the US that he would build this quirky bit of art.

We would have never had the town of Alliance Nebraska anywhere on our radar, but as we were trying to pencil interesting oddball things into our summer map, this fell right between Scottsbluff and Chadron State Park (Nebraska’s first state park), so we decided to make the detour and capture a photo or three.
