It’s a pity when ranked peaks don’t warrant proper mountain names and you end with hikes and climbs like Unnamed 13838 and Unnamed 13820.
I hereby declare Unnamed 13838 to be Jimbo Mountain and Unnamed 13820 to be Colette Peak.
Definitely sounds better than Unnamed.
The best way to knock out both of these Centennial peaks is from the Silver Creek/Grizzly Gulch trailhead where most people start the Sunshine Peak and Redcloud Peak combo hike, but with two vehicles you can do a through hike ending up at the Williams Creek Campground and save some distance and elevation.
The trail winds along Silver Creek up to the saddle between Redcloud and Unnamed 13838, here you hang a left instead of continuing up the trail to Redcloud as most hikers will do.
One of the issues with 13ers is that the trails are never as well defined as on 14ers due to lack of foot traffic.
If 13838 was 162 feet higher it would have a very well defined path since the 14ers get all the love.
Pretty much a simple meh Class 1 hike with 360 views most of the way, hopefully my GPX file here is helpful since I could find very little beta for the trail online.
Recommend?
Only if you’re peakbagging the Centennials, Bicentennials, or 13ers.
Otherwise skip them and get Redcloud and Sunshine Peak instead – same views, and 2 14ers done.
