Since we’re camped right on Lake Granby, it only makes sense to rent a boat to spend our Sunday on the lake after the crowds had gone.
There are options to rent on Shadow Mountain Lake and Grand Lake, but we wanted to explore the many coves on Lake Granby.
After seeing Columbine Bay and Grand Bay from the shoreline while hiking the other day, we thought it would be cool to switch perspectives.
We were not disappointed at all.
At 7,250 acres with 40 miles of shoreline, this is the third-largest lake in Colorado and you can find solitude somewhere even on the busiest day.
The day disappeared as we tucked into one small cove after another, pulling up to the shoreline and spending time without other boaters.
It really is amazing to be kicking back on a boat in the sunshine while looking up at snowcapped peaks all around!
It’s easy to see why this is part of the Arapaho National Recreation Area.
Beacon Landing Marina on the north shore of the lake was the clear winner for price and proximity to Grand Bay where we wanted to spend lots of time.
The boats certainly aren’t fancy, but they’re functional and the engines run well, so they are perfect for our needs.
We highly recommend spending time on the water here, and would also recommend Beacon Landing for a rental.
