We stumbled across the world’s largest hockey stick when looking at things along our route up to International Falls.
Part of breaking up our drive times and making the journey more tolerable is by finding obscure and quirky things to stop and see.
It’s kind of like doing the state highpoints – you see parts of the country that you never would otherwise, and catch little bits of Americana.
The US Hockey Hall of Fame Museum is here in Eveleth Minnesota, so it makes sense that the largest hockey stick would be here too.
At 110 feet tall and weighing over 5 tons, it’s something to see – once.
A town in British Columbia Canada claimed to have a hockey stick that was 205 feet long – but there’s a dispute that since it’s attached to a building and not free-standing that it doesn’t count. Maybe we’ll see that one too in our travels.
Another trip, another obscure quirky thing to add to the memory bank.
