Three Sisters Island is located within Voyageurs National Park on Rainy Lake.
As we didn’t have time for a multi-day sail, Kevin and Tim thought this would be a perfect destination for a day sail and they were spot-on.
There is no dock or anchorage – you throw a stern anchor out and inch as close to the rock slab at the edge of the island as you dare to. Throw down a boarding ladder or clamber over the side to hop onto the island.
Mature tall pines and a deep carpet of pine needles underfoot make for an up-north scented lunch spot out of the sun.
Kevin was adventurous enough for a quick dip in chilly Rainy Lake, but we both passed on this and enjoyed our time on the dry side.
