We have heard of Telluride for years now, but I always thought that it’s big allure was simply it’s remoteness and the difficulty getting there just added to the appeal. We always want what we can’t have…
I was very, very wrong. ALL of Colorado is beautiful, but Telluride absolutely has to be one of the most beautiful parts we’ve seen yet. Located in a massive box canyon highlighted by the very photogenic Bridal Falls at the canyon head, it’s easy to see why so many people make the difficult trip to get here.
Of course the obvious downside to the desirability is that the throngs of tourists descend here during the summer and during ski season. Parking is at a premium and you’ll pay a premium at the local restaurants – after a long wait to get a seat if you don’t get in early.
The public transit system is amazing – a ski tram that takes you from Mountain Village right into downtown Telluride, and buses that loop through the city on a very regular basis. And free! The tram is fantastic in that you can just hop on any time and enjoy the mountain, then turn around and come back down. Pretty sweet.

Only in Telluride can you let the spray from a waterfall wash the mud off your Jeep!

I’ve heard the phrase "going off the rails", but I’ve never had an actual visual until now.
