Kansas is EVERYTHING you would expect it to be. Flat, dry and dusty – with farmland and cattle land stretching to the horizon in every direction.
I drove for miles and miles (and miles and miles) without seeing another human being, and many of those miles without even seeing a cow.
Mt Sunflower (elevation 4,039 feet) is on private property, but the owners have allowed public access and threw in some decoration to boot.
Not much to see, and not exactly convenient, but it’s an easy one to check off the highpoint list since you can drive right up to it.

Mount Sunflower
Good on the owners of this peice of land for making it accessible to the public and for throwing a little pizazz at it!

Cooled Down
It was 104 when I dug my phone out for the photo, but it cooled down to a nice chilly 102 by the time I managed to get a shot.

With a name like this, you can pretty much guess that this is not going to be a fun drive.
