Part of my highpointing – Mount Marcy NY at 5,343ft. The route up the Van Hoevenberg Trail is 7.3 miles, 14.6 round trip. Only 4130 feet of overall elevation, just a long distance and a pretty crappy trail overall make it a bit of a slog.
Clouded in above 4500 feet makes the trail even less scenic, and I was only a couple hundred yards from the Jeep when the skies opened up and started dumping. Several other hikers had passed on their way up as I was headed down, and none of them looked like they had rain gear – yikes.
Happy to have this one checked off!
