Part of my highpointing – Mount Marcy NY at 5,343ft. The route up the Van Hoevenberg Trail is 7.3 miles, 14.6 round trip. Only 4130 feet of overall elevation, just a long distance and a pretty crappy trail overall make it a bit of a slog.
Clouded in above 4500 feet makes the trail even less scenic, and I was only a couple hundred yards from the Jeep when the skies opened up and started dumping. Several other hikers had passed on their way up as I was headed down, and none of them looked like they had rain gear – yikes.
Happy to have this one checked off!
Amazing how many people just aren’t prepared for Mother Nature’s whims.
There is no bad weather, there is only inappropriate clothing!
Completely clouded in at the top of Mount Marcy.
