We just missed this when we arrived in country last year, so it was on our must-do-list this year.
There are some seriously amazing things here – the largest pumpkin in Germany, creative sand sculptures, and pumpkin-everything-food, worth seeing once.
There will be no solitude, even in coronavirus times. Constant streams of people, most German, some American, will help contribute to the sensory overload.
But – you can only see Germany’s largest pumpkin here. See it while you can!
Dark and Gloomy Day
It was a dark and gloomy day over the palace grounds.
Amazing Artwork
These sand sculptures are absolutely amazing!
Preening
Residenzschloss Ludwigsburg
It’s huge, but it’s absolutely ugly! One of Germany’s many oversized palaces.
Spin a Record
One of the many creative displays made from pumpkins and gourds.
The Clear Winner
The 720kg (1,587lb) pumpkin in the middle won Germany’s heaviest pumpkin award for 2020. The grower has won this award 2 years in a row – I’m not sure exactly what you win other than accolades amongst your fellow pumpkin farmers though…
Crazy Eyes
This looks like something that my Aunt Dayna would have carved up for her local Pumpkinfest!
The Iguana
This iguana is certainly not native to Germany…
A Boy and His Horse
Lunchtime
Kurbissuppe (Pumpkin Soup) and a pumpkin rice dish topped with pumpkin seeds.
