A fitting end to our time in Slovenia, Ljubljana fits our idea of a classic European city.
From the river running through the middle of town, to the Ljubljana Castle towering high above, I had a really hard time narrowing the photos down to something manageable since every single shot was so amazing!
Everybody thinks of the large cities when they think of Europe – Prague, Vienna, Munich, etc – but Ljubljana should rank right up there with all of these other beautiful cities.
We will be back. Our time in Slovenia has been far too short, and there is a lot of this beautiful country still left unexplored.
Until next time.
Triples
The famous Triple Bridge in the center of Ljubljana.
Locks of Love
I hope that this bridge was built to withstand an additional ton of metal in the form of lover’s padlocks.
Locks Everywhere
Anything that can get locked on these bridges has a lock on it, even this whimsical little bronze sculpture.
Guarding the Bridge
The Dragon Bridge is named for the four dragons guarding each end of the bridge.
Smooth Waters
This is the beautiful European river view that we absolutely love.
Triple Bridges at Night
A view of the Triple Bridges all lit up at night.
Ljubljana Nightlife
A gorgeous view of the Ljubljanica River and old town Ljubljana lit up at night.
Concert With a View
Now THIS is wow – open air jazz and orchestral concerts with a castle as the background. Judging by the elegant dress of the folks seated inside the barriers, tickets were not cheap. But for those of us in the cheap seats, the view and sound certainly was no less amazing!
