When the hotels are all closed because of coronavirus, an RV will get you where you want to go!
We had our sights set on southern Bavaria to get into the Alps and do some real hiking, but it turns out that all campgrounds in Bavaria are closed until 30 May!
Okay, second door – let’s find something on Lake Constance in our home state of Baden-Wurttemburg. I say nay nay – everything is booked, and we’re not taking a chance on a drive-up non-reservable spot being available.
Door number three – we liked the Lake Titisee area in the Black Forest when we drove through earlier in the year – and we have a winner.
We got lucky with a campground right above the lake, and even luckier with a view with nothing but a nice green field since tents are forbidden until the 30th due to the bathrooms being closed from coronavirus. Nice!
Despite torrential downpours on Saturday, we were able to get out and hike hike hike all weekend long – there is no bad weather, only inappropriate clothing!
Would we come back? Probably not since there’s so much else to see. Are we glad we came? As Colette’s family would say – you betcha!

Little Church

Little Church
It looks like a mini church, but it’s in the middle of nowhere and doesn’t look like it gets much use

Moo

Moo
The area around Hinterzarten really reminds us of southern Bavaria, dairy cows and all.

Hinterzarten

Hinterzarten
A very cool and picturesque little ski town.

An onion dome on the local church.

I guess I don’t have enough shots of Colette hiking through tall trees…
