You know it’s a good weekend when you get to the end and wish for just another day. When Kevin invited me up for the weekend to crew in the Kettle Falls Regatta, I jumped at the chance. Even though Colorado is amazing in the summer, it’s good to get away to the Great White North too.
And since you can’t control Mother Nature – we had perfect fishing weather on race day. Not a cloud in the sky, and not a whisper of wind. It takes a long time to get from the Thunderbird Lodge in International Falls to Kettle Falls with a little 5hp outboard putt-putt-putting away. Such is racing.
We enjoyed the weekend of camaraderie with the other sailors, and of course when it’s time to go back – plenty of wind, and right on the nose.
It makes for a spirited sail though, and for some good photos, so no complaints here. It’s just a pity it went by so fast.

It was a wet ride home with wind on the nose and some chop. It makes for good photos though!
