Another beautiful hike through the Colorado mountains!
Since we’re dog-sitting, Charlie the lab got to come along with us! He’s a great hiking companion, and wore himself out so much that he conked the minute we got back to the car and didn’t wake up until we got home.
Taking a Break
Colette and Charlie (Charlotte) stop for a break as we hike up to the Isabelle Glacier
Snow!
Charlie loves when you kick up snow for her to catch and eat in mid-air
Ain’t Cold
Despite being the middle of July, plenty of snow at Isabelle Glacier
Breaktime
Sitting around and watching the sights
Playtime
Charlie is the epitome of water dogs – if there’s water around, she’s in it regardless of temperature. Here she plays in Isabelle Lake.
Just Watching
Colette and Charlie in the perfect sunlit pose, despite the heavy clouds in the background.
Ready to Head Out
With the storms rolling in, these two are ready to high-tail it back down the mountain
Heading Home
Leaving Isabelle Lake and glacier behind, headed towards the blue skies of home.
All Worn Out
Charlie now understands the meaning of the phrase "moderately strenuous" when it comes to hikes. We’ve also noticed that hikes in Colorado are rated much easier than they would be if they were elsewhere in the world.
Glacial Melt
Nothing like seeing a monstrous snowpack turning into a waterfall!
Indian Peaks Wilderness
The Big Rack
We stumbled across two bull moose as we were leaving Indian Peaks, they were just off the road in a swampy area making short work of all of the vegetation.
