Eagle Mountain is the highest point in Minnesota at 2,301 feet.
The 15 miles of dirt roads leading to the trailhead are amazing, better than a lot of the "paved" roads around here.
A mile into the trail you enter the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness – I haven’t been here since Shelby and I did our BWCA canoe trip for my birthday in 2017.
I also just realized that I never finished editing the photos and video from that trip, so expect to see some six-year-old footage to pop up here in a day or two.
There is absolutely nothing interesting about this trail unless you’re highpointing.
No views, rocks, roots, mud, and…. bugs.

Minnesota Moosequitos. I’m not a fan of bug spray, but I used more on this hike that I’ve used combined on all other hikes in my life.

You might notice "I" not "we" for this highpoint. Colette tapped out – rightly so, and stayed in the Pod at the trailhead while I slogged through the clouds of mosquitos. We’ve had soooo many mosquitos here that I can’t blame her a bit.
Ugh. But, it’s done, and one more highpoint under the belt.

I haven’t been in the BWCA Wilderness since Shelby and I did our canoe trip in 2017.

If not for the bugs and temperature, this would actually be a decent hike.
