Since we were passing through Glenwood Springs on our way to Aspen and knew that we’d have most of a day free while we waited for the RV to be detailed, we did some quick research on things to see in the area.
Jackpot – Doc Holliday’s gravesite! We both enjoy wandering around old cemeteries, and ones with famous residents are even better.
The cemetery itself isn’t much to see, and honestly Doc Holliday’s gravesite is the only real attraction. We also noticed a headstone labeled ‘Kid Curry’, a name that we didn’t recognize. Turns out that he was a member of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid’s Wild Bunch gang, and was considered to be the wildest of the Wild Bunch. Who knew?

Gambling

Gambling
The poker chips and dice laying at the base of Doc Holliday’s gravestone are fitting for a famous gambler.

Died Without His Boots On

Died Without His Boots On
Most gunslingers died of non-natural causes with their boots on, legend has it that Doc Holliday died staring at his naked feet.

Keeping Up With The Jones

Keeping Up With The Jones
Jones has some nice wrought iron fencing around his plot, but I’d rather be alive than keeping up with him…

Kid Curry

Kid Curry
I had never even heard of Kid Curry until I saw this headstone. It’s a legend worth spending a minute reading.
