One of the questions people often ask me is, “Don’t you get lonely being in a new location without familiar faces and places?”
Thanks to technology plus friends and family who travel, thankfully the answer is “No”.
In her book, Be Happy Now, Deborah Day says connection is life. “It is important to reserve time to spend with the people in your circle of connections.”
Staying connected takes effort and it often involves phone calls, texting, emailing, etc.
And every once in awhile we get to make face-to-face connections. I was fortunate to receive a visit from Sandra and Angela recently and we enjoyed some beautiful sunsets, went shopping, biking, kayaking, talked, laughed…all the things that Hallmark cards are written about.
When change separates us from friends who were once close, they remain forever as teachers of the heart. Thank you, Sandra and Angela, for bringing familiarity to all my unfamiliar places.
Now and then it’s good to pause in the pursuit of happiness and just be happy. -Guillaume Apollinaire
