20110610Hiking-005It’s a crisp 50 degrees this morning, the kind of crisp that makes blueberry flavored coffee taste even better.  It was foggy and rainy yesterday, so the birds are singing like it’s a rebirth of spring.

Coal Creek Canyon is a beautiful place.  We are at about 7,000 ft elevation, nestled between two mountain peaks.  We’re taking it easy on physical activity so far, since we’re still acclimating to the altitude.  20110604Hummingbirds-046We’ve seen antelope (grazing with cows), deer (on a hike) and a bear (right out the back door).  We’ve delighted in many new types of birds – new shapes, colors and songs – along with the chirps (I didn’t know they do that?!) of hummingbirds.

So far, Colorado is everything we hoped it would be.
