I was walking out the front door when I heard a woman’s voice from the sky saying, “Hi… hey there!”; I looked up and directly above the treetops in the front yard was a beautiful, brightly colored hot air balloon slowly drifting by. I ran inside to grab the camera, but missed most of the balloon by the time I returned to the driveway.
Standing there in awe as it disappeared behind the trees I heard the familiar “pshhhht” behind me. Another balloon. And another! A hot air balloon parade!! It was a gorgeous evening – about 75 degrees, clear blue sky, no wind – perfect for balloons I imagine.
The deep blue sky really made the bright colors of the balloons pop. By now several neighbors had gathered in their yards too, cameras in hand. We shouted to each other with excitement as we spotted the next hot air balloon, like kids in a candy store who just spotted a new flavor.
Then as suddenly as they appeared, the parade ended and we retreated to our summer evening routines.
